About me
Thank you for visiting this space designed for you. I'd like to tell you a little about my professional background.
I graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree ( cum laude ) from the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra, PUCMM (2007). Subsequently, I completed my Ophthalmology Residency at Dr. Elías Santana Hospital, obtaining my Specialist in Ophthalmology degree from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo, INTEC (2012). At the Institute of Applied Ophthalmobiology (IOBA) of the University of Valladolid, Spain, I completed a subspecialty in Retina (2014), and since then, I have had the pleasure of serving through ophthalmology in two cities of my beloved Dominican Republic: Santiago de los Caballeros and Santo Domingo.
I have practiced ophthalmology and retina at the OftalmoLora Ophthalmology Unit, the Corominas Clinic (Santiago), the Centro Láser Specialized Ophthalmology Center, and Diagnóstica Ocular (Santo Domingo). Throughout my professional career, I have had the privilege of learning from my principal teachers and mentors, Doctors Joaquín Lora Hernández, Juan Battle Pichardo, and José Carlos Pastor Jimeno, to whom I am deeply grateful for their dedication to my training.
I am passionate about teaching, which I have practiced at my alma mater, PUCMM, and I practice every Thursday at my hospital, Centro Cristiano de Servicios Médicos, Inc. - Hospital Dr. Elías Santana, as a specialist (adjunct professor) in the Retina Department.
I belong to the Dominican Society of Ophthalmology, of whose Board of Directors I have been a member as treasurer (2018-2019), member (2019-2021) and general secretary (2021-2023).
I participated in the Leadership Course in Ophthalmology of the Pan-American Academy of Ophthalmology (2019-2020), where I received the "2021 Richard and Cecilia 'Chita' Abbott Young Leader Award", for the project "Incorporate the use of NEO2 Blend in the NICU to reduce risk of ROP".
I am honored to be an active member and volunteer associate of the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO).
